NMSGA is an organization that was established in 1960, and runs approximately twenty golf tournaments a year for its membership. The organization is non- profit and has approximately five hundred members state wide. The requirements for membership are that you are at least fifty in the year you join and are a resident of the State of New Mexico.
NMSGA keeps its own handicaps based on an individual’s performance in its own tournaments, thereby eliminating "sandbaggers". It is not necessary to have a handicap when you join. One will be assigned by our handicap chairman.
A handbook is published in March of each year that includes the rules, member names, and tournament schedules. This information will also be on the web site.
The first monthly newsletter is published in February. The newsletters will include results of the previous tournaments, as well as entry forms for the upcoming tournaments. This information will also be available on our web site: www.nmsga.org. All tournaments are filled on a first- come basis, so if an individual wants to play in a specific tournament, it is important to send in the entry as soon as possible.
The average cost of the tournaments is $55.00. This covers green fees, a cart, and prize money. If participants want to form their own foursomes, that is acceptable.
For new members, there is a $40.00 initiation fee. Annual membership dues are $40.00 per year.
